Training and Equipping You for Service

Sarah Family Ministries is a Christian Ministerial Training Center with the vision of equipping the saints so that they may fulfill the ministry they have been given by the Lord. This vision is accomplished by offering an alternative process to traditional Bible seminary preparation for ministry.

Ministerial Training & Equipping Class
Entrance into Sarah Family Ministries begins by completing the Ministerial Training and Equipping Class. This 15-week class is designed for growth in all phases of ministry and leadership no matter where each minister is on their path. This is accomplished through teaching strong biblical principles and providing practical ministerial training. Classes focus on the realities and responsibilities of ministry by examining the heart of the minister through topics such as character, commitment, spiritual gifts and hearing God's voice. Instruction is provided to explore practical study and application of the Word of God for sermon and teaching preparation. Opportunities for teaching, preaching, group leadership, and street outreach are also part of this class.

Following the Ministerial Training and Equipping Class, candidates may continue their participation at SFM by attending Advanced Training Classes and Manna. Or candidates desiring credentialing may apply to the Ministerial Credentialing Class.

The Ministerial Training and Equipping Class is held on Monday nights from 6-9pm. Please check the Calendar for specific dates.

Candidates considering this class must be: Born again and Spirit-filled, 18 years of age or older. Candidates must attend Orientation and will be expected to attend all class sessions including ministry outreaches and Manna (Sept-Dec).

Class Fee: $400/individual; $600/married couple.

Advanced Training Classes
Sarah Family Ministers are on the front lines of ministry, studying, preaching, teaching, leading and giving for the work of the ministry. Where can they go to be refreshed? Where do they go to be nourished in the Word of God? They come to the Advanced Training Classes! The classes at SFM provide a wealth of biblical teaching that continually strengthen ministers in their walk while also giving practical help for ministry growth. Ministers receive training and support that encourages them as they continue in their ministry efforts.

Advanced Training Classes are typically four weeks in duration and are held on Tuesday or Thursday nights (6:30-9:00 pm) with occasional workshops on Saturdays. The Advanced Training classes currently offered at SFM are listed below. Please refer to the Calendar for specific dates of classes.

A Study in Ephesians
This class on Ephesians will bring a fresh and insightful view to this beloved epistle. Ephesians contains rich theological foundations which we will explore with the view of how we live them out. Our study will help in deciphering false doctrine and give active life changing strategies for day-to-day living.

Please sign up for this class as we will have resources for you to read through and study before class. This will be a participatory Bible study class, so we ask each one to share insight and thoughts from your time of study. We seek through our discussions to grow and be transformed.

Please note: We anticipate that this class will continue into the Spring as we have no expectation that we will cover the whole book this Fall. We want to move through the six chapters with grace to explore the depths and riches of the book, so we will walk through them as the Lord gives us guidance with His timing.

This six week class will be facilitated by Pastor Carol and Minister Amanda Peterson.

Class Fee: $40.00/individual; $60.00/married couple

True Life! True Vine!
Our life engrafted is His fruit through us. Come join us as we see the richness and fullness that is found in abiding. We have one goal and that is to ABIDE! Out of this goal will be His lasting and life giving fruit.

Pastor Paul Lengyel will be the instructor for this six week class.

Class Fee: $50.00/individual; $75.00/married couple

Sharpened in the Word
To rightly divide the Word of Truth and speak the Word consistently in our messages is where ministers must be grounded in the Word of God. 'Sharpened in the Word' will be a series of classes delving into passages of Scripture which may on the surface appear 'controversial' or difficult to divide to understand. Without taking time to explore these passages and the doctrines which spring from them, we will find our messages becoming miextures of what we think we believe, or what we've heard we should believe, or what we've heard preached, without truly planting in our heart what we truly believe based on the Word of God.

This first class in this series will be concentrating on Philippians 2:1-11 in context to focus on verses 6 and 7. What do you understand it to mean when Scripture says Christ 'emptied' Himself? It is this word 'emptied' - which in the Greek is kenoo - that we will be unpacking. From this Greek word we have kenoticism, which is also known as kenotic theology or kenotic Christology. You may not have heard these terms in sermons or disucssions, but you have heard the preacher/teacher's interpretation of this word come through in their message.

Delve into your own study of this passage as you prepare for this class. We will be working through this together, using our discussion and study to sharpen our understanding. We will allow the Word to speak and rightly divide our conversation as we seek to be refined in our thinking and practice.

Pastor Carol will be facilitating this four week class.

Class Fee: $40.00/individual; $60.00/married couple

2 Timothy 3:16-17 HCSB
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Ephesians 4:11-13 NIV84
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
