Training and Equipping You for Service

Sarah Family Ministries is a Christian Ministerial Training Center with the vision of equipping the saints so that they may fulfill the ministry they have been given by the Lord. This vision is accomplished by offering an alternative process to traditional Bible seminary preparation for ministry.

Entrance into Sarah Family Ministries begins by completing the Ministerial Training and Equipping Class. This 18-week class is designed for growth in all phases of ministry and leadership no matter where each minister is on their path. This is accomplished through teaching strong biblical principles and providing practical ministerial training. Classes focus on the realities and responsibilities of ministry by examining the heart of the minister through topics such as character, commitment, spiritual gifts and hearing God's voice. Instruction is provided to explore practical study and application of the Word of God for sermon and teaching preparation. Opportunities for teaching, preaching, group leadership, and street outreach are also part of this class.

Following the Ministerial Training and Equipping Class, candidates may continue their participation at SFM by attending Advanced Training Classes and Manna. Or candidates desiring credentialing may apply to the Ministerial Credentialing Class.

The Ministerial Training and Equipping Class is held on Monday nights from 6-9pm, January-May. Please check the Calendar for specific dates.

Candidates considering this class must be: Born again and Spirit-filled, 18 years of age or older. Candidates must attend Orientation and will be expected to attend all class sessions including ministry outreaches and Manna (Feb-May).

Class fee: $450/individual; $700/married couple.

Advanced Training Classes
Sarah Family Ministers are on the front lines of ministry, studying, preaching, teaching, leading and giving for the work of the ministry. Where can they go to be refreshed? Where do they go to be nourished in the Word of God? They come to the Advanced Training Classes! The classes at SFM provide a wealth of biblical teaching that continually strengthen ministers in their walk while also giving practical help for ministry growth. Ministers receive training and support that encourages them as they continue in their ministry efforts.

Advanced Training Classes are typically four weeks in duration and are held on Tuesday or Thursday nights (6:30-9:00 pm) with occasional workshops on Saturdays. The Advanced Training classes currently offered at SFM are listed below. Please refer to the Calendar for specific dates of classes.

Advanced Training Classes

Trauma Care
We will be approaching the topic of Trauma Care with two aspects in mind: 1) for your healing. Addressing trauma is a component in complete healing - spirit, soul and body. We desire that the ministers of SFM be healed and whole, strong and mighty for His glory. 2) for you to have 'tools'. As you minister to others who have experienced trauma, you will want to recognize roots and fruits of trauma to effectively pray with and for those God places on your path. This class will assist you to learn more. And because you will have experienced your own healing, your compassion and insight will directly help others.

This class will be a six week lecture/lab type class. In addition to the teaching time, you will have opportunity to observe prayer and healing times, receive prayer and healing, and also pray for others as we put into practice the things we will be learning.
Class Fee:$50.00/individual; $75/married couple

Trauma Care Part II
We will continue our Trauma Care series with a second phase! In this next class, we will delve into the trauma of neglect while also understanding more of the complexities of trauma. We will continue on with sessions to gain insight into how to address trauma as we minister to others – the questions to ask as we listen to Holy Spirit in guiding us in our care of others. We will also understand how to maintain a healthy perspective as we are actively engaged with helping others. This is a four week class and will also have the lecture/lab teaching. Prayer time will be an integral part of class - whether it is giving or receiving. Please note this Part II class is only for those who completed the Trauma Care class last fall or just recently this spring.
Class Fee:$40.00/individual; $60/married couple

Corrupt Communication
There is much taught on correctly speaking the Word of God but very little on corrupt communication. Whether the 'once in a while' speaking of corrupt communication or a continual flow of it from man's mouth, both are very destructive, changing the image of man to believe that they are something other than in Christ's image. What comes out of man's mouth comes from the store room of his heart. What does your store room have in it? How do you clean out your store room if you have evil in it? Have you been harmed or pained by someone who has spoken corruptly against your image in Christ and have changed you into another image? Are you having problems with your mouth? How do we deal with the flesh side of it and the demonic side? Come get healed, delivered and gain the understanding to minister to yourself and others, setting them free from this contamination from the enemy. This is a four week class.
Class Fee:$40.00/individual; $60/married couple

Let the Walls Come Down!
Come and understand the book of Amos like never before! The book of Amos identifies strongholds and walls we build up in our heart. We will study what happens if we choose to not address these issues while also understanding God's wisdom that takes them down. If you want to wage war on strongholds in your own heart or your loved ones, Amos will bring God's strategies to light. This will be a five week class. Please note the class time: 7-9pm.
Class Fee:$40.00/individual; $60/married couple

Marriage Prep
This four week class is for ministers who are or will be performing wedding ceremonies. According to Minnesota state statutes, couples desiring the reduced marriage license fee must receive 12 hours of pre-marital care from the officiant. The 12 hours must include sessions on conflict resolution, communication and the use of a pre-marital inventory. This Marriage Prep class will present some ideas and resources to help you develop your own curriculum for pre-marital pastoral care. This four week session of classes will focus on building a foundation for marriage, communication, conflict resolution and finances.
Class Fee:$40.00/individual; $60/married couple

2Timothy 3:16-17 HCSB
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Eph 4:11-13 NIV84
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
