Training and Equipping You for Service

Sarah Family Ministries is a Christian Ministerial Training Center with the vision of equipping the saints so that they may fulfill the ministry they have been given by the Lord. This vision is accomplished by offering an alternative process to traditional Bible seminary preparation for ministry.

Ministerial Training & Equipping Class
Entrance into Sarah Family Ministries begins by completing the Ministerial Training and Equipping Class. This 15-week class is designed for growth in all phases of ministry and leadership no matter where each minister is on their path. This is accomplished through teaching strong biblical principles and providing practical ministerial training. Classes focus on the realities and responsibilities of ministry by examining the heart of the minister through topics such as character, commitment, spiritual gifts and hearing God's voice. Instruction is provided to explore practical study and application of the Word of God for sermon and teaching preparation. Opportunities for teaching, preaching, group leadership, and street outreach are also part of this class.

Following the Ministerial Training and Equipping Class, candidates may continue their participation at SFM by attending Advanced Training Classes and Manna. Or candidates desiring credentialing may apply to the Ministerial Credentialing Class.

The Ministerial Training and Equipping Class is held on Monday nights from 6-9pm. Please check the Calendar for specific dates.

Candidates considering this class must be: Born again and Spirit-filled, 18 years of age or older. Candidates must attend Orientation and will be expected to attend all class sessions including ministry outreaches and Manna (Feb-May).

Class Fee: $375/individual; $575/married couple.

Advanced Training Classes
Sarah Family Ministers are on the front lines of ministry, studying, preaching, teaching, leading and giving for the work of the ministry. Where can they go to be refreshed? Where do they go to be nourished in the Word of God? They come to the Advanced Training Classes! The classes at SFM provide a wealth of biblical teaching that continually strengthen ministers in their walk while also giving practical help for ministry growth. Ministers receive training and support that encourages them as they continue in their ministry efforts.

Advanced Training Classes are typically four weeks in duration and are held on Tuesday or Thursday nights (6:30-9:00 pm) with occasional workshops on Saturdays. The Advanced Training classes currently offered at SFM are listed below. Please refer to the Calendar for specific dates of classes.

Trauma Care
The definition of trauma for the purpose of this class is: observing present day fruit that may have roots in the past. It's not a scraping up of the past, but rather examining fruit and behavior in the present that may stem from unhealed trauma. Trauma can be emotional, spiritual and physical. It can be abuse, pain over successive losses, abandonment, accidents, betrayal, rejection, neglect - so many past experiences not fully addressed or healed.

As we continue the examination of trauma in this ten week class, we will also take into account our response to the trauma and the things we put in place to protect or to help us deal with the effects. We can make inner vows, 'I'll never let that happen again,' or 'I won't trust anyone again'. There are ways we find to cope that really do not help, but rather imprison us. From these vows come lies we begin to believe and act upon, which can lead to ungodly habits and patterns of behavior. All these things taken together become a fortified structure or stronghold that keeps the trauma alive and well.

Because of the trauma roots and fruit being identified as we learn, we take the time each class to pray for one another to release the trauma and pray into the healing process. The prayer time is as essential to the class as the teaching/learning.

PLEASE NOTE: Attendance requires pre-registration. Workbooks will be purchased for each attendee. Deadline for registration is February 15, 2019. Class will be on Thursdays, March 7 through May 9 from 6:30-9pm.

Class Fee: $100.00/individual; $150/married couple

Strategy of Hope - a study in the book of Daniel
The book of Daniel is warning us. By unfolding a picture of what the judgment of God could mean for a person or even a country that claims to love God but persists in following their own sinful ways - God is warning us individually and corporately to repent but He is also encouraging us not to lose hope. Persevering in His strategy of hopeful prayer and intercession we can impact our own hearts, our family, our city and our world for the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Daniel was a man who pleased the Lord, and so he escaped the snares of temptation and evil so popular in Judah during his childhood and incredibly prevalent in the city of his captors for the rest of his life. While others around him grew wicked and ensnared by the enemy's tactics, Daniel rose above bitterness and jealousy to find God had blessed him with positions of influence and favor - and all the while, his ministry never ceased to give glory to God. We, too, can become men and women who please the Lord, even in these days of increasing lawlessness. Even Solomon would tell us that a man like this is one in a thousand and a woman like this, even rarer (Ecclesiastes 7:6-29).

Class Fee: $50.00/individual; $75.00/married couple

Providing Pastoral Care for Grieving Families
The focus of this class is in understanding how to help families in the death of their loved one. We will follow the path of losses from various starting points - the diagnosis of a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one through violent means or suicide, loss through natural means, or hospice care. We will continue with discussing the role of the minister in caring for families in the death of their loved one. We will examine grief and how to best assist and not hinder the healing process. We will also explore facilitating the various types of services memorializing the loved one.

Class Fee: $50.00/individual; $75.00/married couple

2 Timothy 3:16-17 HCSB
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Ephesians 4:11-13 NIV84
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
